Chevrolet Corvette for Sale
1987, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006

There werent too many changes made in the 1987 Corvette, however if you had the funds you could have ordered a Calloway Twin Turbo edition Corvette through the dealer. The Calloway Twin Turbo Corvette put out a whopping 345 hp. That doesnt sound much in todays standards but it was more then enough to put the Ford guys at the local race track to shame. The base model came with 240 horsepower which was a much needed gain from the original C4 power output of 200 hp. In fact Car & Driver picked the Corvette as one of the top ten cars at that time.

The 1988 Corvette coasted its way though the year without any major updates or upgrades. Chevy did put out a special edition Corvette coupe which featured a white paintjob which matched with the new white leather interior. The 1989 Corvette came with a removable hardtop and a heated rear window. A new 6 speed manual transmission was added to your options at no cost if you wanted.

In 1990, Chevrolet tried to out do itself with a special edition monster muscle car. The ZR-1 C4 Corvette option arrived at the local dealers in the early 90s. This was not a poor mans muscle car, the ZR-1 had a shiny price tag of nearly $60,000.00. Considering the 1990 Corvette coupe cost less then half that at. Around $24,000.00 the ZR-1 seemed over priced. With 400 horsepower under its belts, the ZR-1 was no toy. It was a real track ready race car.

1990 Corvette

Though the ZR-1 was out of the reach of some Corvette buyers it didnt stop Chevrolet from transferring some of the cosmetic looks to the newer 1991 Corvette. The newer 91 vettes came with newly designed rear outer panel that mimicked the looks of the 90s ZR-1. The front also got a redesign with new wrap around corner lights. Topped off with new 17 inch rims and the 1991 Corvette was an instant hit.

By 1992 Chevrolet was ready to debut its second generation LT-1 engine which was packed with 300 horsepower. Along with the new power upgrades Chevy made traction control standard on all 92 and up models. Not a bad idea when youre trying to corner a turn at 70 mph in a 300 horsepower rear wheel driver car.

By 1993 competition in the American sports car arena was very tough and it was the 40th anniversary of the Chevrolet Corvette, so Chevy had to do something fresh. The base model 1993 Corvette was putting out 300 horsepower. But the real power came in its 40th anniversary special edition Corvette. The 40th came with a 405 horsepower engine that even made the old Ford boys shake in their shoes. By 1993 technology was quickly increasing and more and more car companies were fitting their cars with luxuries like keyless entries and more sophisticated radio systems.

1993 Corvette

The 1994 Corvette was starting to really incorporate the technological advances that were being developed at the time. New technologies include multi port fuel injection. The compression ratio for vette was tuned to a 10.5 to 1. The horsepower stayed the same at 300 but this time it was putting it to the ground much more efficiently. If 300 horsepower wasnt enough for you, you could have shelled out an extra few shiny (very shiny) pennies and drove off the lot with a 405 horsepower 1994 Corvette ZR-1.

1994 Corvette

The 1995 Corvette wasnt changed much from its previous model. It came with the same 300 horsepower multi port fuel injection as the 94s. The curb weight for the Corvette weighed in at around 3317 pounds, the ZR-1 model added 186 pounds which weighed it in at around 3503 pounds. Which isnt much considering the ZR-1 was pulling those 3503 pounds with 405 horsepower.

Chevrolet Corvette 1995

The 1996 Corvette came with many dealer options; from new suspension packages to new LT-4 330 horsepower package. The curb weight was around 3317 pounds which was the same as the year before it. 1996 marked the last year for the C4 Corvette. Chevy came out with the 1996 Grand Sport Corvette which was a special edition to mark the last C4 models. The Grand Sport came with a fancy racing paint job which nicely hid the 330 horsepower power plant. The 1996 Chevy corvette grand sport was and still is one of the most sought after corvettes to date.

Chevrolet Corvette 1996

The newer 1997 Corvette ushered in an era of American muscle car. The new C5 Corvettes were integrated with the pure American muscle along with the newest technology. The new vettes came with a 347 cubic inch V8 that was putting out a strong 345 horsepower with 350 lbs-ft. There werent too many options for the 1997 Corvette at the time. It came with a 6 speed manual and 4 speed automatic.

Chevrolet Corvette 1997

From the 1998 Corvette till the 2001 corvette not much changed. Curb weight remained the same at 3218 lbs. Base line models came with a 347 cubic inch V-8 engine that would produce 345 horsepower. The 2001 Corvette got a horsepower boost which brought it up to 350hp Though there werent any major upgrades made the Corvette was still the biggest player in the American muscle company.

Chevrolet Corvette 1998

In 2002 Chevrolet unveiled its newest addition to the Corvette family, the Z06. The base line 2002 Corvette came with a 345 horsepower engine that would usually fulfill someones need for power and speed. However Chevy had a different goal for the Z06. Chevy installed the 2002 Corvette Z06 with a 405 horsepower and a fancy suspension package to hold all that power to the ground.

Chevrolet Corvette 2003

The 2003 Corvette stayed much the same. Curb weight was at a steady 3218 and the horsepower didnt make any gains either. Chevy didnt make any major cosmetic changes in the 2004 Corvette either. Everything was pretty much a remake from the year before. Besides a few new colors and personal options there were no real noticeable changes in the models. Chevy was much too busy thinking about and building the new generation C6 Corvette.

The 2005 Corvette is arguably one of the most beautiful body styles ever. Its sleek low design gives it a European look. Chevy wouldnt outfit its top thoroughbred racer with a new body without giving it a new power plant. The Chevy guys designed an all new LS2 SFI 6.0 Liter V8 engine that puts out 400 race bread horsepower. Curb weight was also decreased to 3179 lbs. But Chevy still had something up their magical sleeve, but they wouldnt reveal that secrete until 2006.

Chevrolet Corvette 2005

The 2006 Corvette was a monster however a new Z06 was due and the Ford guys have been working on new beefed up mustangs which also produce nearly 400 horsepower. Chevy really had to outdo them self on this one. But never fear Chevy already built a new C6-R which was racing in the American Le Mans Series and it was doing pretty damn good. They took many ideas off the C6-R and built the all new 2007 Corvette Z06 which would pump out a very healthy 500 horsepower. This was no joke of a car; it was a track ready everyday driver. Still to this day the Chevrolet Corvette is one of the most respected American cars ever.
