Things to know about before renting an exotic car.

Things to know before you rent an exotic car.

  • Make sure you have the proper insurance for renting an exotic car.  DO NOT rely solely on the exotic car rental companies insurance or the insurance they sell.

We are familiar with lots of horror stories about exotic car rental companies that sell insurance but only to make a profit and that no real insurance exist and you are not covered at all.

  • Verify the company and the specific exotic car you are interested in renting in advance. Too many stories of specifically requested and booked exotic cars were not available for rent only to be offered another car, sometimes exotic and sometimes not. This is because of brokers that have limited inventory but like to present a larger market share. Yes, the reality is any car can break down and no company can guarantee deliver of a specific exotic car due to maintenance an other issues. An exotic car can be stolen or not returned on time by the previous rentor and those are things which must be taken into consideration. However, to falsely claim to have a specific vehicle and make a reservation on an exotic car that they know they don't have and they will have to replace with something even if comparable is fraud.

To insure you rent the exact the exact exotic car you reserved and are looking forward to driving, make sure to visit the exotic car rental company in advance and confirm the vehicle. Call and ask to visit the showroom weeks if not months in advance. You don't want to be caught off guard last minute.

  • Get a copy of the rental agreement in advance. Often rentors do not read the fine print on the exotic car rental agreement and sometimes are presented with huge fees after they return  the vehicle. Get a copy of the exotic car rental companies rental agreement, take your time to read it and make sure you are understand if they have listed any additional taxes, car wash fees, mileage restriction fees and any other fees that they may or may not have put in the fine print.

  • Ask for discounts. Often you will be surprised how much of a discount you can get when renting an exotic car. Especially if you are going to rent the exotic car for multiple days or even long term.
